#10 - Surfing Steve Statue
Stephen F. Austin is depicted in a most triumphant fashion, giving off feelings of perseverance and a hopeful look towards the future. He stands on a massive star, with gallons of water constantly flowing out underneath. (Hence the nickname, Surfin’ Steve.)

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at shaping pottery? Well, here is your chance! Muddy Pants Pottery in Nacogdoches offers a variety of classes and studio space to mold bowls, vases, or anything you can imagine!

#8 - NacBurger
Behold! One of the most glorious burgers in all of East Texas! The Donut Burger, from NacBurger, is a beautiful creation all sorts of morning favorites. Bacon, egg, cheese, and burger patty, held together with TWO sweetly glazed donuts.
#7 - Fire Museum
At the turn of the 20th century, the Nacogdoches fire department was formed to protect the city from catastrophe. For generations, these courageous East Texans have provided rescue and safety for this portion of the piney woods. In 1996, in efforts to remember their spectacular stories, the Fire Museum was built in the station’s original shop along Fredonia Street.
#6 - Eyes of Father Margil
With crops dying and a dried up La Nana Creek, hope for sustainability was dimming. In a vision, Father Margil was lead to two large stones that were mostly buried in the earth. Taking action, he struck them with his staff and fresh spring water began to flow!
#5 - The Flour & Flower Co.
Combining the passions of baking and horticulture, this Nacogdoches shop gives you the supplies and goods to become a bona fide homesteader.
#4 - Ab’s Chair
Tucked away within a tiny meadow, along the Banita Creek Trail, lies a absolutely huge folding chair! This 8ft tall, metal sculpture serves a memorial for a beloved Nacogdoches local who served the community and natural environment with great passion.

#3 - Brendyn’s BBQ
2025 was an all-star year for this downtown Nacogdoches restaurant. Brendyn’s BBQ was named to the highly esteemed Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Joints! So naturally, we had to go check it out. And wow, were we impressed.
#2 - SFA Gardens
Nacogdoches is the definition of the “Piney Woods.” So much so that Stephen F. Austin university has curated six flourishing gardens for folks to come and experience. Embark on over 7 miles of hiking trails across 138 acres, full of stunning native plant species that will leave you in awe.

In the heart of Texas’ oldest city, there is a brand new café that is an absolute MUST VISIT! Sweet, sweet gelato, expertly brewed coffee and delicately baked pastries all await you in downtown Nacogdoches.
